Nearly every Jewish community in the US has a special relationship with a community in Israel. Our Detroit community, along with Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids, is connected to three communities in Northern Israel; Nazareth Ilit, the Jezreel Valley, and Migdal Haemek. We’ve named this region the Central Galilee and named our 16-year relationship with them Partnership 2000 (P2K). As a result of this strong bond, both sides benefit greatly. On our Detroit Community Birthright trips every participant is given the amazing opportunity to be hosted for dinner by members of these communities. Below is an account of their experience written by two participants.
