As an average runner in my late forties, I became addicted to endurance races in 2006. Since then, I have raced more than a dozen half marathons, countless 10K runs and have traversed the "This Sucks" swamp in Dances With Dirt: Hell.  Though I enjoyed those races indescribably, a recent obscure, Northern Israeli relay race, has perhaps left the most indelible impression on me.

On May 19, with help from organizer Jeff Schlussel, and Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, I joined Jeff, five other metro-Detroit runners, and over two hundred teams, for 200 kilometers of nonstop racing in the third Mountain to Valley Relay Race.
