The prestigious program organized by the Agshama Department of the Zionist Federation in cooperation with JAFI's Education Department has reached our region in the frame of the "Dilemmas facing the Gaza periphery" tour, organized by "Noar Negev", the Seminars Center at Kibbutz Gvulot.
The purpose of the tour was to expose the youth to the local reality and to face them with the challenges and dilemmas related to various fields, such as: life in the confrontation line, pioneering settlement in the 21st century, the struggle for peace, demographic growth and community leadership.
During the seminar, the young participants visited the "Three Frontiers Crossing", in Halutzit they met Pinhas Zeltzer, a farmer from Netzarim who told them about life in the settlement before the disengagement, about the evacuation days and about the decision to come back and re-settle in the northeastern Negev region. Lito Chanchiz, a Peace Now activist and member of Kibbutz Nir Ytzhak met the teens at the Steel Division Monument and explained them about the peace vision, both at the national level and at the regional level, and told them about the Zionist challenge despite life under the neighbors' threat.
Dario Teitelbaum, the Director of Noar Negev who guided and accompanied the group told them all about Partnership 2000 and about our special bond with the Jewish community in Mexico, about our joint projects and the lively interaction between the communities, and invited the youth to join us in our work.
The tour was performed along the 232 road and included a visit in Sderot at the "Kassam Missiles Exhibition" held in Sderot Police Station, and a meeting with Eitan Feldi, JAFI's representative in Mexico who took active part of the program. The visit ended in a look over the Gaza Strip from the "Black Arrow" post, and concluding remarks on the participants' impressions.
