In December a photography competition was held on the subject of "Water, Land, Air and Fire" under the auspices of the JNF in Mexico.
The competition is an annual contest held among all Jewish children in Mexico, from kindergarten to high school.
When I was contacted by Miriam, the coordinator for Partnership 2000 in Mexico, asking whether we would want to take part in the competition I immediately said "Yes" and sent the information to the school principals.
Tali Roitman, a wonderful mother who had heard rumors about the competition, took her son and his neighbors, and together they organized a group of five boys who went out to take photographs and they took part in the Mexican competition.
This wonderful group of boys includes:
Ro'i Roitman - Grade 3, Ma'ayan Ha-Besor
Omer Lahav - Grade 3, Ma'ayan Ha-Besor
Omer Ben Ari - Grade 3, Ma'ayan Ha-Besor
No'am Ben Ari - Grade 1, Ma'ayan Ha-Besor
Guy Lahav - Grade 2, Ma'ayan Ha-Besor
The group did not win a prize, but they were awarded participation certificates.
Therefore, on Wednesday February 3, 2010, we gathered - Tal Kelmer-Gildead, Gesher Lekesher coordinator; Efraim Perlmutter, chairman of the Gesher Lekesher committee; and Maya Boneh, projects coordinator for the local council - in order to give this group of boys the respect they deserve.
I would also like to extend great thanks to Tali Roitman for her welcome initiative and a job well done.
Let us hope that next year we will take first place.
