Twenty parents and pupils from the Clore Tikvah Primary School in London traveled to Israel May 23-30 to spend a week in the Galilee with their partner school, the Kerner Ma'ale Hagalil Primary School in Meona. Their delegation t-shirts featured a pair of joined hands and the phrase "friends for life". Each passing day proved the appropriate choice of these words as friendships developed with their Israeli partners and within the group itself.

Even before returning to the UK, participants began to plan how they would share their experience with other Clore Tikvah parents and pupils.

 The attached newsletter is the first in a series, which is being sent to all Clore Tikvah families:

Dear Clore Tikvah Parents and Pupils,

We are very pleased and proud to welcome you to our very first newsletter. This is following our successful trip in May, to visit our school partner: the Ma'ale Hagalil Kerner School based in Northern Israel.

Whilst being very enjoyable, it was a very intensive week. We met with our host families, their children from the Kerner School and spent a magical Shabbat at their houses, living as an Israeli. We learnt about their lives and visited various local entrepreneurial establishments that support and enrich this thriving and developing community.

The visit was organised through the Jewish Agency and supported by the UJIA as part of the School to School Partnership Programme that encourages connections between Jewish communities in the UK and Israel. Throughout the school year, our children share activities with the Kerner School and gain further awareness, that we are all part of a larger Jewish world and have a joint heritage and tradition. This partnership is a family affair and involves the whole community both here and in Israel.

We hope that you will find this newsletter enlightening and enjoyable. It will show you the friendships and on-going relationships that have developed between our two communities.
