Young Partners

Within the framework of Kfar-Saba – Columbus Partnership 2000 program, encouraged and supported by the Jewish agency, exists, for the fifth consecutive year a program named "Young Partners".

Every summer, youngsters from Columbus visit Kfar-Saba for a period of three weeks during summer. They experience social values activities, volunteer and tour the country. Several days they stay at homes of the Kfar-Saba teenagers selected to form the Kfar-Saba part of the program. The following year, the Kfar-Saba counterparts will travel to Columbus and their hosts will be the same youth they met the previous year in Kfar-Saba.

All members of the program, from Kfar-Saba and Columbus alike, volunterer once a week in their home town, in a program of their choice.

Young Partners program brings closer together youth from Israel and from the USA, and strengthens Jewish identity.

This is a Daily Update From Tow of The Participants

"Hello everyone,

Molly and I want to start something new - we will try to send an update every day of the places we went to,things we did and other details of the day.

Yesterday was our first day - wewent to many different places in Tel-Aviv/Jaffa and we learned a lot. Some of the places we went to were The flee market, The Hall of Independnce, Nachalat Benyamin(an artists market), and Rabin Square. It was a packed first day and by the end everyone was exhausted but very happy.

After only the first day we could already see strong connections forming with the group and they will only continue to get stronger.

Today we spent the day in Kfar Saba doing some volunteering activities. In the morning we painted a mural for The Council for a Beautiful Israel. The mural was painted on the side of a bomb shelter in a kids park. The point was so if there is ever a siotuation where the shelter has to be utilized the mural will shed some light. All of the kids signed the mural by putting there hand prints around it and signing their names. After they finished the Mayor of Kfar Saba came to visit and he contributed to the project by also putting his hand print on the wall.

For the next activity we went to NETA, a technological program for youth, the program combines skills dealing with fixing computers and social values. Whilethe kidswere at NETAthey did some games to show the importance of teamwork and including everyone even if they are different, they also worked on a computer program that taught them how to put a computer together.

After that Adi, the volunteer coordinator in Kfar Saba, came to talk to the kids about the impotrantce of volunteering and what volunteering means to them. It was a very successful program.

The day ended with a social program. We went bowling and ate pizza. The boys were very competitve and the girls liked to cheer for each other. In the end Keren won in the girls group and Sam won in the boys group.

Tomorrow will be another packed day! :)
