Municipality council meetings experience occasionally a moment of pleasure, when all members are united accepting unanimously a decision in an atmosphere of satisfaction.
Such a moment happened when Kfar-Saba council members saw a presentation about the Columbus – Kfar-Saba Partnership 2000 from
Meir Alonim, chairman of the Kfar-Saba steering committee, and Aliza Regev, who accompanies the Partnership since it was established, 8 years ago.
They described the essence of Partnership 2000 as a project targeted for the preservation of the Jewish people, by connecting Diaspora Jewish communities with Israeli ones.
The 22,000 Columbus Jewish community selected Kfar-Saba as its partnership city on 2002. The activities include joint steering committees, that all its members are volunteers, youth delegations enjoying home hospitality in Columbus and in Kfar-Saba, resulting in building friendship for years.
The partnership supports various activities in Kfar-Saba, such as the Net@ project, enabling 100 teenagers to become network technicians, "Aharai! (follow me) preparing youth for meaningful military service, "Hearts" program, a day care center for underprivileged children, conducting joint virtual parties with Columbus JCC children, an internship program that brings Columbus youth to train in Kfar-Saba, and many more.
There is a special connection with the local Ethiopian community. Columbus Rabbis contributed the furniture to the Ethiopian synagogue in Kfar-Saba.
The Kfar-Saba municipality council unanimously accepted the decision, claiming that "the Kfar-Saba council congratulates the Columbus Ohio Jewish community for its activities for the preservation of the Jewish people, and promises to continue the fruitful cooperation with Partnership 2000 to accomplish this target".
