There are about 25,000 Jewish people in the Rochester area and they are a very vibrant community with multiple activities scheduled on any given day. There are 12 synagogues in the community. The Jewish Community Federation is the central planning, fund raising and community relations body representing this community of Reform, Conservative, Orthodox, and secular Jews. The Jewish Federation raises over $4,500,000 annually to support its own community programming as well as five local Jewish agencies and the programs of the Jewish Agency and the Joint Distribution Committee. Partnership 2000 has been an important program of the Federation since 2003. It is supported by the Federation's overseas allocation.
