14 participants from Northern New Jersey met with over fifty active Partnership members from Nahariya, during the last Partnership Steering Committee last July.
The Steering Committee meetings opened with a solidarity visit to Sderot. The visit to Sderot included a meeting with Shimon Peretz, director general of the city, who gave a general status report regarding the city and its residents. The visitors were shown the "Kassam Exhibition," which included sections of Kassam missiles that fell on Sderot in recent years. The visit was concluded with a moving encounter with Sderot's' children, who were attending summer camp outside of Sderot.
The second day of the meetings was dedicated to the study of the models of other partnerships. In this capacity, the participants visited the SAHAR Partnership (Safed, Hatzor and Rosh Pina) and were introduced to the partnership's activity in the field of tourism, with an emphasis on Kabala, during a tour of Safed.
On the third day, discussions were conducted regarding the Partnership's task forces, selection of joint projects and their budgeting. The day was concluded with a festive dinner at the home of the Partnership Chairperson and the National Partnership's Chairperson, Raya Strauss Ben Dror. The vocal choir of the Nahariya Orchestra, conducted by Arieh Kfir, gave an impressive performance of classical compositions.
On the final day, a summary meeting was conducted during the course of which a budget of 225,000$ was approved for joint projects in social, educational and medical spheres both in Nahariya and in Northern New Jersey.
