In mid-January a delegation from Broward County's Partnership 2000 city, Nesher, arrived to participate in the 2007 Joint Steering Committee meetings, which took place on January 18 and 19. The delegation included Nesher's Partnership 2000 professional staff members as well as volunteers specializing in the area of Education, Professional and Economic Development, Women's Forum and Senior Citizens. The delegates were introduced to groups of community professional and lay leaders to initiate and continue communication between both partnership cities and to create personal connections. This people-to-people connection is one of the primary goals of Partnership 2000. The delegates were also honored to attend the Community Campaign Celebration with special guest speaker, Elie Wiesel.
This young partnership, which has only been in effect for two years, has already accomplished a lot and this visit only strengthened that drive. Task force members worked hard to plan programming for the next several years that will enhance and guide the partnership to reach its ultimate potential. "We have a full agenda ahead of us as we work together on partnered programming in the areas of education, young leadership, women's health issues, elderly and business and professional programs," said Annette Crandell, Nesher's Living Bridge Coordinator.
