Philadelphia and Netivot are separated by 6000 miles of land and sea, but this Hanukah, one candle managed to connect young Jews in both cities. On the first candle of Hanukah, just as the sun was setting in Netivot, students from the Noam Orot School in Netivot congregated and greeted their friends from the Torah Academy of Greater Philadelphia, who were at school and lit the first candle of Hanukah together.
The schools were twinned by Melitz's "Israel Connect" program, run in coordination with the Jewish Agency's Partnership 2000 in several partnerships, including the Philadelphia - Netivot - Sedot Negev partnership.
