The “Partnership 2000 in the Negev” March took place last weekend marking the 50th anniversary of the city of Ofakim. The March was a joint event of the Merhavim Regional Council and the Jewish Agency. Some 5000 students, soldiers, pensioners and young olim took advantage of the spring weather to march between 2 and 10 kilometers. This is the fifth year that the March has taken place. It is one of the activities of the MetroWest-New Jersey community and the Jewish Agency in the region through the “Partnership 2000” project which links Jewish communities abroad with municipalities in Israel.
