The Merhavim Conservatory operates with the assistance of Partnership 2000 with the aim of enriching the cultural life of the area's residents, and enabling every person from age five and up to learn to play an instrument and enjoy the world of music. The center's goal is to increase the student's awareness with regard to the emotional, aesthetic, cognitive and social nuances inherent in music and its live performance.

This year the number of students rose to about 200 children and teenagers who undertook individual, duet or group lessons in piano, electric organ, vocal training, violin, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, guitar, drums and darbuka.

As part of the center's joint activities with Partnership 2000, this year a joint pilot of the Perach Mentoring Project and the Academy of Music in Jerusalem was begun. This pilot project enabled the children to receive additional lessons at no extra charge from students at the Academy of Music in Jerusalem. At these meetings the students acquired new tools and additional musical expertise.

At the Academy of Music a guitar player from Merhavim was discovered by the senior instructor who requested to give him personal lessons during the year, and there is no doubt that if not for this meeting the door into the world of professional music would not have opened for this particular student.
