The Excellence in Motion Project, which operates with the aid of Partnership 2000, is geared to kindergarten children in Ofakim, age 5-6, who come to the tennis center once a week for a tennis and athletic development lesson.
The athletic development program is based on thirty lessons which are taught by certified trainers.
The program goals are to improve coordination, dexterity and balance, and provide a base for all types of sports. Also, there is an excellent computer center at the tennis center containing eleven computers which are connected to the Internet and to various learning applications suitable for early childhood.
This project supplies an environment in which the children learn about discipline, life skills, tolerance and various social skills.
Today, as a result of the kindergarten project in 2005-2006, there is an athletic development group for ten children who work out twice a week in the afternoon hours.
The crowning achievement of the Excellence in Motion activity is the continuing activity of the children from the previous year. This year three mini-tennis groups started with seven children in each group who practice five times a week, and each practice takes about an hour.
The children in these groups are those who started in the Excellence in Motion program in 2004-2005. These children also receive a weekly hour of physical fitness from a certified fitness coach, which is intended to strengthen them physically, but even more so to contribute to their social development.
We should remember that these children came from the kindergarten project (Excellence in Motion) program - and with perseverance and investment along with the complete collaboration of the parents, these children attend the afternoon activities at the Israel Tennis Center in Ofakim.
These children have a great potential from the point of view of the Israel Tennis Center in Ofakim, and from the point of view of the city of Ofakim in general.
