On Tuesday, March 22nd, visiting music Professor Michal Geisler conducted a master violin class for Or Akiva children participating in the music program at the Mirlman Community Center. The program, which includes a Youth Orchestra, makes use of musical instruments donated over the years by members of the Miami Jewish community.
Vladimir Ashurov, Music School Director, noted that it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for most of the pupils to study violin at this level. Geisler, who conducts the Raanana Orchestra, comes to Or Akiva every year to work with the pupils.
The Greater Miami Jewish Federation has been involved for 25 years, initially though Project Renewal and now as part of Partnership 2000 with the music program in the Or Akiva Community Center.
