"Path of the Artist": Integrating Ethiopian Oleh Artists
28.3.2007

Every year more than fifty Pardes Channa - Karkur artists and craftsmen open their homes to exhibit their work in the "Path of the Artist" event.  Members of the public from all over Israel attend, many buying works of art as holiday gifts.

This year, as part of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation Operation Promise project in Pardes Channa - Karkur, two Ethiopian olim, a ceramic artist and a women who weaves traditional Ethiopian baskets, took part in the late March, three-day event.

Funding and operation of the participation of the Ethiopian artists was implemented via the Jewish Agency in an effort to help the Ethiopian community become fully integrated socially into the general population.

Tens of thousands of people from all over Israel attended the event.
