Preserving history - David Ben-Gurion's house is being expanded featuring new activity rooms
The historic home of David Ben-Gurion expresses, more than anything else, the man who became the exemplary role model and paragon of the virtues of Israeli leadership. Ben-Gurion and his wife Paula lived in this house from the moment they were accepted as members of Kibbutz Sde Boker in 1953. The house has been preserved in its original state, except for slight alterations and additions, so as to enable visitors to experience the authentic symbol of Zionism and the epitome of Israeli leadership.
For many years the Ben-Gurion House has offered a wide array of activities including workshops, arts & crafts activities, study days and seminars on such topics as leadership and Zionism for youth, soldiers and adults, and has gradually become a "pilgrimage" site for anything and everything related to Zionist education.
Recently, in the presence of the chairman of the JNF, new activity rooms were dedicated. The rooms, tailored to the modest character of the site, were built in the style of the historic kindergarten that had stood there until Ben-Gurion's death.
