Akko and Mate Asher Athletes Attend US Maccabiah Games

A 14 member delegation of athletes ages 14-16 and their coaches from Akko and the Mate Asher Regional Council will attend the US Maccabiah Games scheduled to open this August.

The US Maccabiah Games is a project sponsored by the Partnership 2000 program of the Jewish Agency and takes place annually during the summer at three simultaneous locations across the United States.

These games are intended for Jewish youth and each year attract some 5,000 young people from a number of countries.

The selected athletes all participated in an orientation program as part of their preparation prior to their departure.

The delegation will be divided into 5 groups that will visit various Partner Communities such as Omaha, Nebraska; San Antonio, Texas; Louisville, Kentucky; Youngstown, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana.

The members of the Israeli delegation will join local teams and athletes for the trip to the US Maccabiah Games that will take place in Austin, Texas and Columbus, Ohio.

Partnership with Israel promotes people-to-people relationships between our Jewish community and Israel's Western Galilee through cultural, social, educational and economic programs along with 12 other cities in the central United States, is linked with the Western Galilee, located in the most northern part of Israel on (along) the Mediterranean coast.
