Eleven 10th and 11th graders from Akko and the Mate Asher Regional Council areas will travel to the United States this summer as part of a "Kefiada" counselor delegation to Jewish Community summer camps throughout the Mid-Western United States. The delegation is part of a Partnership 2000 program sponsored by the Jewish Agency to promote contacts and relations between residents of Akko, the Mate Asher Regional Council and their partner communities.
The "Kefiada" takes place every year during the summer school vacation in two locations. One is an English language day camp for the children of the Western Galilee and the other is held in JCC summer camps belonging to communities, members of the UJC Central Region Consortium and partner communities to the city of Akko and the Mate Asher Regional Council.
The counselors were selected following a stringent selection process and are intended to work as CIT's and Jr. counselors throughout the summer at four week sessions for children and adolescents ages 4-15 in the Jewish Communities of Dayton, Canton, Youngstown, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky. The counselors will all enjoy home hospitality during their stay in the various Jewish communities.
Partnership with Israel promotes people-to-people relationships between our Jewish community and Israel's Western Galilee through cultural, social, educational and economic programs along with 12 other cities in the central United States, is linked with the Western Galilee, located in the most northern part of Israel on (along) the Mediterranean coast.
