A delegation of three teachers from Shazar School in Akko - Ora Gershoni, Carmit Avizemer and Ronit Hasin - visited their twin school in Chanukah.
The teachers visited their twin school, Levin School in Dallas, and soon after they finished their teacher's seminar. They delivered workshops on Chanukah for different grades, and even attended professional lessons.
During the visit the two teams came up with several ideas to be implemented during the course of the year:
1 The Green Bible: Each school will choose one verse from the Bible (starting with the book of Genesis) and will develop creative activities based on the verse and the concepts it represents. Each verse will deal with the quality of the environment, and with the way that each of the students is responsible for his or her close and distant environments.
2 . Continuous artistic creations: Students at Shazar School created Chanukah lamps, and Levin students further developed the lamps. It was suggested that each time another school will create something and the other school will further develop it.
3 . Establishing an online forum, where the students will get the opportunity to discuss issues regarding the quality of the environment based on the topics that come up as part of the Green Bible project. This forum will not only serve as a communication platform for the students, but for the teachers and maybe the parents as well.
We all look forward to the enhancement of the connection between the schools and to the creative and enriching fruits it will bare.
