Iris Altit, the principal of Gvanim School, and Niva Shochat, a school educator, visited the community in Canton, Ohio as part of a teachers' delegation in order to establish and develop new twinning connections with the community.
During their visit at the community they delivered workshops and lessons at the Country Day School public school and even visited the community's Jewish school.
Iris and Niva came "well equipped" with letters, surprises, artistic creations and drawings (of Chanukah lamps and holiday symbols) that Gvanim students had started to make, and students at the twin school continued to work on them with joy and enthusiasm.
During their visit, Iris and Niva met with the Shlicha Jenny, who's been working for a year as a Shlicha in the Canton and Akron communities. They decided to deliver joint-learning sessions about the figure of the Jewish woman. Niva took up the gauntlet and will hold these joint sessions with the students at her class. Four such sessions will be held concurrently to examine exceptional women in the history of the Jewish people.
The lesson plans have been revised by Jenny and Niva and are available for review; joining the joint-learning initiative is possible as well.
We promise to update you on the progress and present the products soon...
