Students at the Weizman School hold an annual IDF Remembrance Day ceremony for the Akko community.
Present at this ceremony are bereaved parents, the students' families and representatives of the authority, who all gather together to commemorate the IDF soldiers who fell in battle in general, and those fallen soldiers who were alumni of Akko's Weizman School in particular.
This year, Weizman School included their students' friends from across the sea, students of the Akiva Academy in Youngstown. English teacher, Ludmila Roinski translated selected segments of the ceremony and worked with the students, who read the texts aloud fluently.
The students were filmed and parts of the Israeli ceremony were screened at the twin school's Remembrance Day ceremony in the U.S.
Students and parents from both Israel and from the Akiva Academy in Youngstown were moved and the Americans expressed their thanks for the cooperation and for this unique way of commemorating the fallen soldiers.
"May the loyal and courageous heroes of freedom be inscribed in the heart of Israel from generation to generation…"
