By Jane Diener, Yokneam Summer Camp Volunteer, Atlanta
When I got back from Yokneam last summer, I was extremely depressed, experiencing a heartbreaking withdrawal from the beautiful place that I called home for a month. Without knowing exactly when I would return, I remembered everything that made my summer so great. Was it my incredible host families? The incredible counelors that worked at the camp with us? The warm, friendly citizens of Yokneam and Megiddo? Or was it the magnificent surroundings that I gawked at each day? I kept thinking about all of the positive parts of my experience. Everything forementioned contributed to an incredible summer - one that I found impossible to forget and terrible to live without.
Being away for a year was bearable, but I could not wait to get back on that dreadful 11 hour flight and long car ride that would eventually place me right back in the city where I first felt the feeling of true belonging. I am happy to be back, and I cannot wait to see what this summer has in store for me.
