The career of Lynne Keating as a writer, producer and filmmaker spans over twenty-five years. Lynne spent 2 days the region (Dec 17-18) to work on her current documentary project that is called Bread Is Life. The artist uses bread as the visual catalyst for learning about heritage and culture of people. Lynne explains: "Ask someone about a special "bread memory" and you get some powerful stories. So I am looking to film how bread reflects the life of people in the area. Is bread part of the daily diet? Are there breads connected to special events or holidays, such as the Sabbath. Sometimes, bread is bought through bakeries or at stores; in other areas people make bread in their homes. I want to get people talking about their family, origins and daily life in Israel - hopefully while they are making bread, buying bread, etc."
Avishay Caspi, a professional filmmaker and an enthusiastic volunteer, who has recently directed a clip for one of the events in Atlanta Jewish community accompany Lynne during her two-days visit in the region.
Moreover, Avishay is of Yemenite descendant, he lives in a typical Yemenite village, Elyakim, is also known for his delicious jahnoon - flour-based Yemenite dish. So as the bread was the theme of interest, Avishay exposed his colleague to the rich and colorful Yemenite culture through the tradition of ethnic bread making.
Lynne was enchaned by the beauty and diversity of Yokneam-Megiddo region and definitely plans to visit us again.
