The Circus Is In Town!

16.7.2007
St. Louis Circus performing at Kefiada Camp

By Arkady Hasidovich, Kesher Coordinator
Partnership 2000 Yokneam-Megiddo ---

According to Wikipedia, the circus originated in Ancient Rome and reinvented in England two centuries ago. And nowadays St. Louis Arches & Galilee Circus youth performers are taking it to a new level, while touring in Israel and stopping by in Yokneam for a sneak peek of their act.

Circus Day Foundation is a non-profit organization that facilitates life skills through circus education. Its young performers, the St. Louis Arches, joined forces with their Israeli colleagues - Galilee Circus, a Jewish-Arab troupe from the Galilee Foundation that promotes cross-cultural and country-connecting social circus projects.

The joint troupe of young American and Israeli actors were truly delighted to perform at St. Louis Arches sister city of Yokneam on July 16. Little did they know that their spectators would be 350 Yokneam summer camp kids, guided, among others, by St. Louis and Atlanta Partnership 2000 volunteers. It's a small (Jewish and St. Louis) world after all!

It was a fine elaborate performance and the kiddies truly enjoyed the show, or as Daniel Glazier, father of one of the St. Louis performers, summed up: "Look at all these smiling faces. It really made their day".
