Indeed, the turn for the worse in the child's soul generally stems from his sense of independence and opposition to what he is told to do. An inclination to resist his parents and teachers is seething at the surface, often coupled even with seething hatred towards them. He yearns to break away from his parents and all that they represent, as he comes to look upon their spiritual lifestyle with scorn.
