The Torah delineates quite a few directives to listen to parents and educators, including, "ask your father and he will tell you, your elders and they will instruct you", "do not stray from the law that they (the rabbis) teach you right or left", "listen to your father's instruction and don't forsake your mother's teaching". And the Torah stipulates a harsh penalty for a "rebellious child" who is not cited for any explicit transgressions on the Torah, simply because his parents say that he does not listen to them.
