Robert, age 15, participates in the Youth Futures program at Goldwater High School in Eilat.
Robert's mother is an English speaker, and the family belongs to Eilat's English-speaking community.
The young people of this community (the children of English-speaking immigrants) got together and decided to mobilize on behalf of the Sudanese children who had arrived in Eilat.
The teens spend several weeks collecting donations in order to organize a truly fun activity day for the children.
On the morning of the planned activity day, the teens accompanied the children on a chartered bus to Eilat's Underwater Observatory.
Afterward they took the children to have their shoe sizes taken and bought them new sandals.
They then went to Dekel Beach, where the children were provided with floats and binoculars and where they all enjoyed a big lunch.

Later the teens played soccer with the children and had fun with them at the beach playground.
On a personal note:I came to the beach, and what I saw there put a smile on my face that stayed there the entire Shabbat …
I watched as Robert organized the lunch, played with the children and never ceased to run around the beach taking care of everything.
The entire time I was there he couldn't stop talking about the people and the Sudanese children and what he had heard from them about the adventures and dangers they had encountered on their way to Israel.
He was so caught up in the event and in what he and his peers were doing, and it made me so happy and proud that this is one of our teens!!!
Hoping you will share my joy … Pictures from the beach attached … With much love,
