Youth Futures in Maale Yosef

The Youth Futures Pogram in Ma'ale Yosef addresses the needs of 130 children ages 6-13 and 60 teenagers ages 14-18. The Partnership Director for this region is Linda Futterman, the Program Coordinator is Limor Palasius, and our partners are the UJIA Britain.

There are currently 10 Trustees working in Ma'ale Yosef. They are local young adults, most of whom are graduates of the Torani Yeshiva in Ma'alot, and all have experience in working with children at-risk. Two of the trustees work with 20 children and the rest work with 10. The trustees meet with each child once a week for 1-2 hours. In addition, once a week the trustee holds a group activity for an hour and a half.

There are 60 youth ages 14-17 whose participation is funded by Youth Futures and an additional group of 15 others, whose participation is funded by the local municipality, which includes 6 Bedouin youth from the village of Ya'ara. The program for this age group is being run by Branco Weiss and is a matriculation preparation program.

The program in this region enjoys the cooperation and support of the Education Department, the regional council and the Welfare Department, both of which are involved in making decisions, including the selection process of the children and training of the Trustees.
