Youth Futures in Ofakim

The Metrowest Federation are our partners in implementing Youth Futures in Ofakim. The Youth Futures Program in Ofakim addresses the needs of 160 children ages 6-13 and 37 children ages 14-18. The Partnership Director for this region is Sigal Drori Pazi and the Local Program Coordinator is Adi Ramati.

The Trustee group is made of two different sub-groups: Locals (7), and volunteers from HaNoar HaOved and HaLomed (4). All of whom have undergone a number of training activities, and are working on bonding them together as a group.

In Ofakim 3 of the Trustees work part time with 15 children and 8 work full time with 30 children. All of the youth in ages 13 and 14 in the 7th and 8th grades participate in the Ometz-MABAR program. The goals of this program are:

  • To raise the percentage of pupils who achieve full matriculation. To raise the educational motivation of the participants.
  • To increase the faith of the teachers in the abilities of the pupils to succeed, and Personal empowerment of the child through workshops.

Adi Ramati, the Program Coordinator, has accomplished much in strengthening our connections with the local municipality so that there is currently a smooth cooperation with both the education and welfare departments, as well as with the Mayor. The Director of the Education Dept. has also instructed all the Ofakim schools to allocate space for the Trustees to organize after-school activities, and the community center has contributed the youth club for Youth Futures activities.
