A Sderot Trustee And His Family Were Miraculously Saved From A Kassam Attack
18.6.2007

Eran Cohen, a 28 year old Trustee, has lived in Sderot his entire life.

A chance decision to sleep over at his parents' house saved him, his wife and his 2-year old son from a direct missile hit on their home on May 5th.

"The next morning, at 7:30, there was a knock at the door", Eran recounted, "a police officer, who is a childhood friend of mine, came to break the news to us.

"The Kassam missile hit the young family's home early that morning, landing in Eran and his wife's bedroom.

After viewing the damage in horror, they headed directly to their synagogue to pray and give thanks.

Despite the destruction and the trauma, Eran and his wife are determined to stay in Sderot.

"It was our dream to own a house of our own in Sderot, and we won't let anyone ruin our dream", he said, "we love the city and its people.

Their support and the support we get from all over the world gives us the strength to stay here".

As a Youth Futures Trustee, Eran feels that he can help make a change in children's lives - "Terrorism steals childhoods away from each and every child in Sderot.

But the ongoing situation can destroy the children who come from the more difficult backgrounds.

I know that I can make a difference."
