Successful cooperation has started between Net@ (a program for technological excellence) and trustees from Youth Futures Acco-Mateh Asher.
The trustee Aliza, brought old computers from Youth Futures to the lab FIXIT at Net@ which is located in the Matnas Beit Hyman in Acco. There she met Ben Yavnieli, technological instructor and Net@ lab director, who thought of the idea of Net@ and Youth Futures beginning a joint venture.
Ben suggested that he take the Net@ mobile lab (which consists of 20 Jewish & Arab volunteers) to the village of Sheich Danon. There they would help each child in Youth Futures to fix their personal computers. The village responded positively. The trustee Shadi made sure that each YF participant and their families would arrive at the Matnas with their personal computer.
The rumor spread among the village and many families came to receive assistance from the Net@ mobile lab. The young technicians worked, fixed and helped everyone for 5 straight hours. The children and their families were grateful not only for fixing their computers but for installing anti-virus programs and games in their personal computers. All this was done in a very pleasant, polite, atmosphere.
The cooperation between Youth Futures and Net@ continues to blossom and grow in other ways. Until now, 23 computers have been sold to Youth Futures children at very minimal prices and the mobile lab is scheduled to have more visits at the Youth Futures centers in Acco and Mateh Asher.
