Trees were recently donated to the new Forest for Peace at Ben Yakir in honor of outgoing President of the Fall River Jewish Federation, Maynard Friedman and his wife Anne. Additional trees for the Forest were given by UJA Federation of New York. The Forest will improve the landscaping at Ben Yakir and in future years the olives will be used to make olive oil in the traditional Jewish way and in Jewish nature studies. The Forest will form part of a larger area devoted to the seven Biblical species.
