Hadassah Neurim’s Director Nachum Katz was so moved by his visit to the Hadassah National Convention in Washington D.C. in the summer that on returning to Israel he introduced a course on the history of Hadassah.
“I think that the staff and students at Hadassah Neurim tend to take Hadassah and the Jewish Agency for granted,” he explained, “so I have started a course which sets out how much these organizations have done for Israel and World Jewry.”
Katz was accompanied on his trip to the US by Lena Poline, an 18 year-old new immigrant from the Former Soviet Union and a star student in Hadassah Neurim’s National Youth Center for Athletics Program. At the National Convention Katz, Poline and Leah Reicin, Hadassah National Board member and Youth Aliyah Chair, gave a workshop on Hadassah Neurim and the importance of Youth Aliyah.
“The response to the workshop was incredible,” stressed Katz. “Since returning to Israel I have already been visited by Hadassah delegations from Chicago and Philadelphia and they are determined to raise money for us.”
