Following recent serious developments in plans to expand the entire Nitzana region including construction of the future city of Nitzanit (temporary name), during May senior professionals from the Ministry of National Infrastructures visited Nitzana. These professionals included Vladimir Numerovsky, Deputy Director-General for Energy Infrastrucures and Dr. Yossi Novarsky, Chief Scientist of the Ministry. The visitors learned about the activities taking place at Nitzana in education, immigrant absorption, science, ecology, sport and archeology and investigated plans for covering the swimming pool with solar panels.
Nitzana is a catalyst for the entire region, which will be called Pitchat Nitzana Halutza. The people of the region will be able to establish tourist enterprises, high-tech industries, educational and scientific endeavors related to the desert and sun.
"Nitzana was once a great crossroads," said Nitzana founder Lova Eliav. "The route from biblical Israel to Egypt met the highway from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean. And in the 21st century Nitzana will once again become an important center. Youth Aliyah's Nitzana village is pioneering that endeavor."
