The Conference of Presidents Leadership Mission paid a visit to Ben Yakir, a religious youth aliyah village, on July 24th. The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations is the central forum for organized American Jewry on vital issues of international and national concern. Jewish Agency Chairman Zeev Bielski, was on hand to personally greet the mission. Meir Nitzan, head of the North American Delegation of the Jewish Agency, was himself responsible for planning and coordinating the visit and accompanied the mission throughout their stay at the village. At a festive dinner that evening, the children from the absorption center received warm and heartfelt words from Zeev Bielski and Malcolm Hoenlein, the executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents. Gifts, donated by Mark Wright of Tampa, Florida were then distributed and certificates of excellence were awarded to three deserving youths residing at the village. After the meal, the mission went to the village's cultural hall to hear a lecture given by Uri Lubrani, the Israeli government's long time adviser.
