The students of Ben Yakir commemorated Yizhak Rabin Z"l
Last week, the students of Ben Yakir held a special ceremony to mark 14 years since the assassination of Prime Minister Yizhak Rabin.
The ceremony was attended by the entire staff and all students at the village. During the ceremony, the students participated in an play dealing with the value of tolerance, as in the famous Jewish quote - "Love thy neighbour as yourself".
We also screened a movie about the life and death of Yizhak Rabin, read Psalms for the ascent of his soul, and the village director, Yossi Krothamer addressed the students and talked about the consequences of violence and intolerance.
Here in Ben Yakir, we educate the youth in the spirit of tolerance and love for one another. The village holds students from all sides of society, therefore tolerance and acceptance are a must and a high value. The prevention of violence and respect for other opinions are a vital part of creating a pleasant life for the students.
We act upon these values on a daily basis, and especially on the day of Yizhak Rabin's memorial, which reminds us in the most tangible way where violence and intolerance can lead to.
