Purim has just began and the celebrations at Ben Yakir are in full speed. Every night of this week was dedicated to another topic, and organized by one of the students groups. These evenings included a special theme dinner, decorations, costumes and shows. Topics included the wild west, pirates and more.
This year, for the first time, a special joint activity was held when the kids of OZ movment (1th-4th graders from Kfar Haroe where the village is located) arrived to Ben Yakir to create mishlochey manot and cards for soldiers. The value of giving united both groups in a special evening. The added value was very special - a connection between Ben Yakir and the community, a positive and fun joint activity. the student later drove to Atlit where they met soldiers of the Israeli marine and gave them the candy and cards they prepared.
Michal Odesser, manager of the educational center: "the activity was amazing. Everyone cooperated.. Some of the parents of Kfar Haroe came to pick up their kids and were very impressed by the activities and energy. Yeshar Coach! I think everyone benefitted from this - both the visiting kids and our teens - experiencing a different kind of giving and helping activity. The picture will testify to the cooperation between the kids… I hope this is the first of many!"
Many activities are held at the school as well - a festive Purim market, questionnaire and student day.
The rest of the week will include a special Shabbat ran exclusively by the teens, and the highlight - reading the Megilla in a special Purim party with a custom contest and many surprises.
Happy Purim!
