1. The forty days from the first of Ellul to Yom Kippur are 'a time of acceptance', so that extra prayers are said.

2. Selihot are said before the morning service. (See 'Laws and Customs' above for dates.)

3. Psalm 27 is said twice daily at the end of the service.

4. At the end of the morning service, before Psalm 27, the Shofar is blown every day during Ellul, except on Shabbat and the day before Rosh Hashanah.
