1. Students should know:

(a) That Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and the days between the two constitute until a unit - the Yamim Nora'im (High Holydays or Days of Awe);
(b) That, on Yom Kippur, G-d was reconciled with Israel over the sin of the Golden Calf on Mose's third ascent up Mount Sinai;
(c) What exactly Yom Kippur is: the time of final decree for the world, and a day of forgiveness and pardon;
(d) What Teshuvah is: remorse over the past, abandoning sin, and resolution not to repeat it in the future;
(e) What are the five (set of) prayers on Yom Kippur;
(f) What are the five self-torments on Yom Kippur.

2. Students should be enabled to understand and fully appreciate that Yom Kippur does not grant forgiveness for a wrong done to someone else, beforel that person has forgiven the wrong.
