To mark the 30th Anniversary of Mivtza Yonatan, the Jewish Agency for Israel held a special VideoConference event in conjunction with Diaspora Jewish communities, which focused on Israel-Diaspora Relations.
This broadcast was networked live from the Conference Room at the Education Department of the Jewish Agency at Kiryat Moriah, in Jerusalem:
Date: Tuesday, 4th July 2006
Time: 16:15-17:45 Israel time.
Hundreds of participants in the Diaspora had the opportunity to discuss the operation and its consequences with our Guest Panel, chaired by Lieutenant Colonel Dr Ido Embar, formerly of the operational Air Command, currently Director of the IAF History Section, including Colonel Muki Betzer, Deputy to Yoni Netanyahu z"l, together with Surin Hershko, one of the IDF Commando team who was severely wounded during the operation.
Other guests in our studio included Emma and Claude Rosenkovitch, two of the released hostages from the Air France flight 139, and there was a live telephone link-up with retired Air France Captain Michel Bakos, whose courageously led his crew in his decision to remain with the hostages after the non-Israeli and non-Jewish passengers were released.
