ABOUT THE SCHOOL2 SCHOOL PRESENTATIONS AT THIS YEAR'S TU B'SHVAT SEDER

In this part of the program, each school takes the stage in turn to present a Tu B'Shvat related mini-project to the other school/s in their group.  This year, the School2School presentations will focus on learning about  ISRAEL AT  60.  As it is also a Shemittah Year, you are also welcome to incorporate aspects of Shemittah relevant to contemporary life into your project.

Each school will have between 5-6 minutes in which to present their part (please check your individual schedule for exact time allocated).
There are two options below for presentations, and schools may choose either option, or both, keeping in mind the time allocated.  Any other ideas are welcome, but please advise us in advance.

ARTS, CRAFTS & MUSIC FOR ISRAEL@ 60.

1. Artistic Display

Students can choose one or two aspects of Israel's achievements over the past 60 years. Whether you choose to research: Science & Technology, Medical advancements, Arts, Education, Culture, Music, Agriculture & Afforestation, Security, Community life, Aliyah, Israel & Diaspora or Political Leaders - your school group, as is traditional in Global Tu B'Shvat, should prepare a feature or presentation through art-work, music, drama, with large visuals.
Watch a video sample, Greening the Negev, Bialik Hebrew Day School,Toronto 2005.

We have prepared dedicated resource collections for all these topics and bring you some direct links for online films about Israeli Hi-Tech and Ecology, from Israel Hi-Tech TV. Please go to the Global Tu B'Shvat Resource Bank

2. A Song for Israel

Students are invited to prepare a song, of their choice, in any language, and present it however they choose – a choir, individuals, with musical accompaniment ,etc.  Your song should fall under one of the titles: "Tribute to Israel," or "Tu B'Shvat."  Please, do not prepare renditions of "Hash'kedia Porachat" ["Tu B'Shvat Higi'a"].  Thank you.

Click on the Resource Bank  for examples of songs, info on Israel's achievements, activity ideas etc...

3. Hatikvah Project: Israel @ 60

In addition, as part of the Hatikvah Project*, in conjunction with Israel Channel 2 TV, we are inviting one school in each group to prepare a special performance of HATIKVAH, Israel's National Anthem, to conclude the Tu B'Shvat Seder, in which you may include parents and special guests, or your school choir.
Any candidates for the show? Please Email Me.

*This unique project aims to introduce Israel's national anthem to Jews all over the world, convey its contents and significance, and enable them to learn how to sing it. Please click here for our Israel @ 60 Hatikvah Project website.
