Young religious women completing their first year of the National Service requirement are recruited for Jewish communities as assistant educators in kindergartens, schools, and as youth movement workers, in order to enhance Jewish identity and the connection to Israel. At least two National Service volunteers are sent to each community.
In schools, they assist with the instruction of Hebrew language, Jewish and Israel Studies, as well as informal activities in these areas. They aim to create an Israeli environment, organize special activities and programs related to the Chagim - Jewish Festivals - and Israeli holidays, as well as assisting with school ceremonies and events. They are also involved in the Jewish community's youth movements, where they plan and conduct programs, as well being responsible for youth leadership training, and forming part of the senior staff at youth movement summer camps.
