Harry Potter Series Finds Its Way to Camp in Kishinev, Moldova
Ages: 13 – 16

The Harry Potter series made a big splash in the camp in Kishinev as campers not only attended the camp but also the "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." In order to become a 'wizard' a camper needed to achieve a certain level of knowledge in Judaism. In this case, a wizard was a person, who knows a great deal, and is always striving to learn more, and to use knowledge for good purposes only.

Campers not only attended camp but also the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Campers were divided into different groups or faculties. Every faculty received its
own color and coat of arms and the counselors were the professors.

The campers also created a daily newspaper which was distributed before the "Boker Tov' morning exercises. The campers had to get up extra early if they wanted the latest news. Some of the topics covered in the newspaper were: Judaism, Jewish History, Jewish traditions and customs, Shabbat, being a Jewish Youth, Israel, and the magic of being in a Jewish Agency Summer Camp.

Campers created their own daily newspaper

"Camp for me was a very special experience. I really enjoyed meeting my friends and learning new things. I read all of the books in the Harry Potter series but never thought I'd meet Harry and his friends at camp, too."

Natasha, 14 years old

"The camp was a happy and positive atmosphere for campers and counselors, alike. The counselors were very professional and the Israeli counselors brought a little bit of Israel into our campers' hearts." - One of the local counselors.
