Rami Wernik, North American Director of MAKOM, was born in New York and raised in Jerusalem. He received two B.A. degrees, in General Philosophy and Jewish Studies, from The Hebrew University and The Jewish Theological Seminary. He holds an Ed.M. from Harvard University as well as an M.A. in Religious Studies from Stanford University. Rami is writing his doctoral dissertation on civic education in Israel for the school of education at Stanford.
A former recipient of the Wexner Graduate Fellowship in Jewish Education, he also completed the Mandel Jerusalem Fellows Program in 2003.
Rami has worked extensively in the field of Jewish education, serving as faculty member in various frameworks including: Midreshet Har Herzl, Melitz, the New Israel Fund’s Rabin Seminar, and the Brandeis Collegiate Institute (BCI). He has served as assistant dean and then as dean of the Fingerhut School of Education at American Jewish University in Los Angeles.
