Jewish Values at Wartime

The following units, prepared by Melitz,  focus on Jewish values in times of conflict. Israel has sacrificed , and continues to sacrifice, the lives of many soldiers because it seeks to fight a war without losing its morals. On a daily basis, it deals with questions pertaining to Jewish values. We recommend using the teaching units below – whether in their original format or modified for your purposes – for junior high school and up (though some parts can be extracted for 5th graders).

The units are part of a broad range of activities conducted by Melitz scholars. The activities below can be extended to adults, students and synagogues  (see message from Melitz below).

Message from Melitz: "The North American Jewish community is standing strong with Israel.  In our ongoing efforts to foster this and other expressions of Jewish peoplehood, Melitz educators are available immediately to come to your community with a dynamic program combining an update with hands on activities that will engender feelings of solidarity with Israel…."

In addition to the above educational units, you may also want to see the Immediate Response Curriculum  prepared by the Jewish Education Center of Cleveland.
