Founded in 1925
Current population: 54,000
11.9% of the population are retired senior citizens (over age 65)
12,900 residents are children ages 0-17
Ranks 5 out of 10 on the socioeconomic scale (according to the National Bureau of Statistics)
1,814 residents are in need (according to the local Department of Welfare
2,548 children are immigrants, 287 of which are in need (according to the local Department of Social Services)
8,024 children and youth are registered in regional educational frameworks:
- 4,374 are in elementary school
- 1,912 are in junior high school
- 1,738 are in high school
