Community Projects to Restore the North - Kiryat Shmona

Kiryat Shmona

Facts about the community:

  • Founded in 1950
  • Current population: 22,000
  • 8.5% of the population are retired senior citizens (over age 65)
  • 6,300 residents are children ages 0-17
  • Ranks 5 out of 10 on the socioeconomic scale (according to the National Bureau of Statistics)
  • 1,310 local residents are in need (according to the local Department of Welfare)
  • 753 children are immigrants, 91 of which are in need (according to the local Department of Social Services)
  • 3,756 children and youth are registered in regional educational frameworks:
    • 1,904 are in elementary school
    • 948 are in junior high school
    • 904 are in high school
  • Local economy is based on both light industry, involving consumer-oriented products such as communications, information technology, and electronics and agriculture.

As part of its mission to rebuild the Galilee and restore vibrant communities across the region, the Jewish Agency seeks your support to repair and renovate the following community buildings:
