Dr. Misha Galperin (UJC/UIA)

Board Associate-Member

Dr. Misha Galperin is the CEO and Executive Vice president of The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington – the sixth largest Jewish community in the U.S. Among his proudest achievements is the Israel Emergency Campaign in Washington that raised the equivalent of the community’s Annual Campaign dollars: by far, the best result in the US

Prior to that, he was the COO of New York’s UJA Federation after a long career as a clinical psychologist and executive of social service. He was largely responsible for creating a system of resettlement, and integration services for Jewish immigrants to New York. Misha was born in Ukraine and came to the U.S. at the age of 18. He became committed to a career in Jewish communal service because of experiencing first-hand the power and effectiveness of the system – his family was helped to get out of the Soviet Union and to integrate to the American Jewish community.

Misha’s doctorate in Clinical Psychology is from New York University; he is a graduate of Wexner Heritage lay leadership program. He is an Associate-Member of the Board since February 2004.
