Facts about the community:

  • Was founded in 1953 as a development town
  • Current population: 8,400
  • Ranks 4 out of 10 on the socioeconomic scale (according to the National Bureau of Statistics)
  • 1,129 residents are in need (according to the local Department of Welfare)
  • 2,351 children and youth are registered in regional educational frameworks:
    • 1,065 are in elementary school
    • 437 are in junior high school
    • 628 are in high school
  • 231 children are immigrants, 36 of which are in need (according to the local Department of Social Services)
  • Future plans for the community include building a holiday village and attraction park to encourage tourism

As part of its mission to rebuild the Galilee and restore vibrant communities across the region, the Jewish Agency seeks your support to repair and renovate the following community buildings:
